1973 YAMAHA RD 350cc Genuine Vintage Ad ~ Mohair Motorcycle
1973 Yamaha RD 350cc original vintage advertisement.
    DESCRIPTION:
Duncan Blake, and the Mohair motorcycle.
Duncan Blake is a custom tailor. Mens fine suits, at three hundred bucks and up.
Duncan Blake is also a motorcycle enthusiast. As he sees it one suit equals one minibike. Three suits, one shiny new street machine.
Over the past three years, Duncan's meticulous measurements have brought him twelve motorcycles. A closetful of clothes for a couple of Kawasakis. A Metralla .A Gilera.
Herringbones for Hondas, shark skins for Suzukis, and tweeds for Triumphs.
A few months ago, a customer ordered a particularly fine suit of expensive imported English mohair, with vest, a matching topcoat and lining of Liberty silk.
The bill just happened to be exactly the price of a new 1973 Yamaha RD350.
Duncan Blake says the best suit he ever made bought him the best street motorcycle he ever owned.
"Very, very, quick;' he says. lt took me two weeks just to get used to the throttle, that's how quick it is.
'The RD 350 is put together like it was made by a tailor. You get in it, instead of getting on it.
Somehow, you know the guy who designed the engine was sitting right next to the man who designed the chassis!’
From the standpoint of handling simplicity, dependability, balance and speed, Duncan Blake says the Yamaha RD 350 "has just got to be the best street machine around"
To say the very least Duncan Blake is happy with his new RD 350. In fact he tells us, now that he’s found out what a great motorcycle it is, he’d gladly have made two mohair suits for it. Or even three.
Each, he says, with an extra pair of pants.
