  • Condition: Guard uniform size 40 is in very good condition given its age. It's very rare to have the complete ensemble with the coat and with the leggings. Some areas of the red velvet are faded from light exposure. There is a small stain on the lower inside lining of the coat, one of the eyes of the hook & eyes clasp is missing and fabric at the site of the missing eye is frayed. The leggings show areas of fading in the front. Please see these areas circled in white in photos for details.

    Description

    Rare Masonic Freemason Fraternal Organization Coat, "Guard Size 40", with leggings in red velvet made by The Ward Stilson Co., Mfrs. of Lodge Goods, Anderson, Ind.   It is extremely rare to have the complete matching uniform of coat and leggings. The Ward Stilson Co.  made uniforms for the Masons, Odd Fellows and other fraternal organizations from 1888-1913. Coat measures 38" from top of the collar to the hem, 22" from underarm to underarm, and
    19" from
    shoulder to shoulder.  The leggings are 29" long, stirrups are 5" and the upper straps are 34" total with the clasp.  The complete uniform is in very good condition for it's age.
    The red velvet is faded from light exposure on the bottom front of the leggings and the front of the coat.  There's a stain (1 1/8" x 1/2") on the inside bottom area of coat and a missing eye of a hook & eye on coat - both are circled in white in photos.  All 9 snaps on the coat are intact and they snap open and closed easily.  The leggings are complete with intact stirrups and upper straps.
    This is a great theater or reenactment piece and is
    highly collectible.  The uniform will be shipped via USPS Priority service.
