Description
This is a collector's item: both in its origin, substance and condition -- but it's not for everyone. If you know, and/or are a collector/aficionado of Vox, then you're familiar with the original legendary
JMI
(Jennings Musical Instruments)
series Vox of the 1960s... as well as with the names of its founder/creator, Tom Jennings and, Vox
electronic design engineer,
Dick Denney.
After creating a line of the most sought after rock 'n' roll amps to date, Jennings was unceremoniously fired from the world famous company he created. Nevertheless, Jennings went on with
Denney
to create the next level of revolutionary and innovative musical products under his new company name,
JEI
: Jennings Electronic Industries. Fascinating reading... all about it here----->> http://voxac100.org.uk [
See the current amplifier there, as well as a bit of interesting
contemporaneous commentary on
the origins of the JEI V100]
.
The all-tube Jennings
JEI V100
amp is a
four-EL34,
100-watt powerhouse -- sonically reminiscent of the clean, signature, chiming tones created by Jennings and Denney in the renowned
Vox AC100
. The actual
JEI V100
offered here is
#3
of its kind off the production line:
Serial #1003
, and remains in excellent (9.5/10) condition for its 45+ years of age.
Jennings Electronic Industries (
JEI
) was in operation only a handful of years, so not sure how many V100 amps were made. But the uniqueness and rarity of this little beauty is unarguable and cannot be overstated -- a significant testament to, and representation of the never-to-be-seen-again British invasion musical era gone by. Too valuable to risk shipping; you must come to retrieve.
Good luck and happy ebaying.
