"This official metal promo button for the band's self-titled debut album is probably the rarest official VH button ever made.
There's something very special about these buttons. A VERY little-known fact: These very buttons actually doubled as backstage passes during Van Halen's first world tour! The band and their small entourage did have their own satin/cloth backstage passes, but they were often running out of them (they'd always be meeting lots of hotties). So the band would use these buttons as passes when they needed to."
They are 3" in diameter with a black background and gloss surface. The front features the "Van Halen" album logo graphic and a small Warner Bros. logo on top.
"1978 Warner Bros. Records Inc. - Printed in USA" is also printed along the bottom.
The back is silver (steel) with a standard button fastener.
Like the VH store, I procured a very small treasure trove of them from an ex-roadie who luckily saved a few that were leftover from the 1978 tour. They traveled on the original tour and have been in a bag ever since.
