Vintage Montgomery Ward Airline Model 9001B Guitar Tube Combo Amplifier Amp. This amp was made in the 1960's. It has 3 tubes and a 6 inch speaker. The amplifier works and has nice tone, but it is not very loud, even when turned up all the way, which I consider to be an issue. It does not blast like I would expect it to when it is cranked. There are no unwanted hums, pops, or squeals, just the fact that it won't get very loud. As far as I know the tubes are good. The speaker is not the original speaker, it is a 4 ohm Jensen 6 inch speaker purchased from Tube Depot. The original speaker was fried and ripped. This amp seems to be a bit rare because I couldn't find specs for it anywhere. I have wondered if maybe the impedance could be mismatched or if the replacement speaker just is not as efficient as it needs to be for this amp. It sounds nice at the low volume it is capable of acheiving, but it just does not scream the way a lead guitarist would want it to. Hopefully, someone knows how to figure these things out and improve the performance of this amp. The blonde tolex has signs of wear over the years, and the grille cloth has a spot showing some erosion. The rubber feet on the bottom are fully intact, as well as the handle. It has the old school 2 prong plug, so you don't want to jam on the basement floor with bare feet because of the risk of electric shock. These amps are notorious for that. Considering it is over 50 years old, the cosmetic condition is decent. I have attempted to show the condition accurately in the pictures. This is being sold as-is.
